March 2-6, 2020
This March, we are engaging in creating ‘books in a bag’ for use by each of the classes. There is a buzz at school a lots of excitement at focusing on enlivening stories for use throughout the year. There will be a showcase at Cruinniú on Thursday which we are all looking forward to. There was even some filming going on at school this afternoon in preparation!
World Book Week is a special week in our school given the importance we place on story, reading aloud, reading for fun, enjoyment and learning leading to understanding. We spend a week in March celebrating books of all shapes and sizes. We encourage and assist the children in exploring and enjoying books, in participating in reading and shared reading activities.
The children and adults in our school enjoy dressing up as favourite book characters where we see everything from Mary Poppins to a mouse!
This year, we all worked hard together to create and participate in multi-sensory story boxes where we made resources that can be shared and used throughout the year.
